Wordplay games to foster creativity and community.

OneUpMe.com is a community of creative thinkers who come together every day to play wordplay games. Every weekday, new topics are posted in a variety of games and players attempt to "one-up" each other in the cleverness of their responses. Oops! Dang! Shucks! Poo!
I'm new at hosting the RA game. I must have forgot to add 'Nina Cheney' as the suggested player to today's RA game.
Nina Cheney is the real suggester for today's RA

Congratulations to Martha Manning for winning yesterday's Special Forum Rendition of RA!

Martha had exactly as many votes as there were posts. I'm thinking that's OUM Hall of Fame-worthy!

I'm passing the reigns over to Ski to host RA for awhile. Thanks for stepping up, Ski. I'll see you all over at the OUM Daily :)

Sorry there's no prompt for today, guys. I messed up. I'll set it up as a forum game later this morning.

Perhaps someone who actually plays this game should host it? Anyone??

"I blew it with her" It doesn't usually work quite right if the "it" and "her" are the same thing. I'm flirting with being in that category and I like some of those responses. But the best, I think, are the ones that make the difference clear. Niggling over.

  • Chris M · Top 10 Elite · Works at Legal Assistant in Muskegon, Michigan

I really thought I had a good one. You guys are going to kick yourselves for tomorrow for not voting for it. I'm just saying, man, I'd like to spare you the regret.

Re: I knew one thing would lead to another with him- Well done, posters!!

  • Chris M · Top 10 Elite · Works at Legal Assistant in Muskegon, Michigan

Today's RA was challenging. I applaud everyone who stepped up and played today and I bow to those who actually pulled it off.

How's everybody doing with the new RA format? Is it working out okay?

  • Michael S · Top 100 Player · Worked at McMurry (Contracting Web Developer) in Phoenix, Arizona

I'm shocked my RA hasn't gotten any reaction - no votes, not even a snub! I'm sure if you don't like it, it's snub-worthy.

  • Chris M · Top 10 Elite · Works at Legal Assistant in Muskegon, Michigan

The credit for today's RA belongs to Steve Jaffe. Sorry about the goof.

  • Chris M · Top 10 Elite · Works at Legal Assistant in Muskegon, Michigan

My apologies for the snafu today. I don't know why the RA topic did not save when I put it in yesterday. I am truly sorry and I will be more conscientious from this point forward. I guess we will play today's game in the forum. Can somebody tell me how to set up a forum game now? I don't see the option anymore.

  • Chris M · Top 10 Elite · Works at Legal Assistant in Muskegon, Michigan

We are going to try something new for RA. Starting Monday, the starter will be the previous winning analogy post (reversed of course) and we will play off that.

I hope that it's fun for everyone to see what other directions you can take with a familiar post. I also hope that it's fun for the winners to inspire the subsequent day's topic. Let me know...See more

Partial Unemployment, came up with this one late yesterday, thought it was a good one?

  • Donna G · Top 100 Player · Lives in Cary, North Carolina

    now you're getting it .....

  • Michael S · Top 100 Player · Worked at McMurry (Contracting Web Developer) in Phoenix, Arizona

I have one thing to say about my RA post not getting any votes today: FU!

  • Ski Z · Top 100 Player · Journeyman at Millwright Local 1607 in Pomona, California

Please before players start voting in RA's. Look at the starter: e.g. She's like a dark drip coffee
In my humble opinion "coffee" has been used. Ignore the Starter-cats in today's game.

Christopher and Marilyn~ I'll share my win~thanks for the votes-~ now I have won an RA

  • Marillyn H · Top 100 Player · Lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Oops! I was reposting m trending when I accidently took my reverse off. I had several votes. Will the ones that voted for me try to find me again.

  • Marillyn H · Top 100 Player · Lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Are we still suppose to say He's like or She's like for reverse?

  • Michael S · Top 100 Player · Worked at McMurry (Contracting Web Developer) in Phoenix, Arizona

    For tomorrow's RA:
    1) What's NSFW?
    2) The example doesn't sound like an analogy to me.

  • Julie S · Elder (Over 100 Rounds) · Works at queen mutha of her crib

    Karl~ today's RA made me LOL~ you're the best!

  • Ski Z · Top 100 Player · Journeyman at Millwright Local 1607 in Pomona, California

Shoot! Shoot! I thought I left a tab open on RA so I could vote on posts after hours. Dang!...looks like I was checking the top ten in RA forum and forgot to go back to the game. What I'm saying is. I played, but didn't vote. Darn, I hate when that happens. :(

Oh........Merry Christmas everyone! Santa is coming to town.

Today's example and the majority of posts seem to respond as if the post says "Thoughtless Gift". Correct me if I am wrong.

e.g. He's like "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" "
Should I vote for all of them... or none?

  • Michael S · Top 100 Player · Worked at McMurry (Contracting Web Developer) in Phoenix, Arizona

Maybe it's just me folks, but I took the prompt as "one and only one." As a result I only voted for two posts. The rest are all things I wouldn't want any encounter with.

    Let the flames commence ...

  • Ronan D · Elder (Over 100 Rounds) · oxford city fc at Football Manager 2013 in Cork

There seems to be something wrong with the game today. No matter what post I try for RA, it keeps telling me that it's too similar to the starter. None of my posts are like the starter, except the 'He's like' part. I can't post because of it :(

  • Karl H · Elder (Over 100 Rounds) · Pastor at Christ the Good Shepherd, Salem, OR in Tigard, Oregon

*anticipated: bad spelling day (x2) for Karl. Apologies again.

My "He needs to vent..." He's like a fume hood DFL'd with zero votes, so I'll share my unseen comment here:

When I was an undergraduate chemistry student, I decided one day to clean out our coffee maker with some diluted acetic acid, i.e., extra strong vinegar.
So I put the unit in our lab's fume hood, poured the solution in, turned it on, and went...See more

Here's why I posted "She's like my mom" for ...saved my life: When I was a kid she used to put me on the train to visit Grammy for the weekend so she could work. One Friday, as soon as my feet hit the first step she snatched me off, saying "You're not going." Why? "I don't know, you're just not going."
