ForumI met a Scottish Elvis impersonator in an Irish bar in Mallorca several years ago. After his show we hung out at the bar drinking. We met some English girls and ended up going for a late night swim in the Mediterranean Sea. Such a fun night.
I looooove Elvis Presley songs! Come on everyone .... play hybrids today. I could use a good laugh!
I'd say 95% of the hybrids today aren't liquors but alcohol in general or cocktails. Interpreting the category a little loosely today people?

It's not too complicated; therefore I'm hoping for lots of posting!
More posts than usual! Lots of really good ones too.
Yes! Super hybrids today
Xmas and Xenophobia
I'm still at work :( but congrats to Pamela! "Do You Fear What I Fear?" was the runaway #1 yesterday.
Hopefully I'll come up with some better topics soon! And you guys feel free to send me suggestions.
Breakfast and Board Games
Scrapple.
Weapons for Women
It was a close battle for first place yesterday
Angel's "Booberang" jiggled its way to the top. Congrats! And congrats on the big analogy win!
David D.'s "Brazooka" took the silver cup
Amy's "Fluzi" sounded like one easy weapon to handle
Conor, with only 12 votes, received 4 comments for "Blamethrower". I don't know what that...See more
Thanks for the mention Chris. It was a fun topic. Thanks for being such a great host.
Thanks, Chris! I'm still bouncing with joy over my victory. :)
I thought the topic was good. I won't "throw blame" at you for it...!
I don't think xenophobia and racism are the same thing. I don't imagine most racists actually have a genuine fear of "aliens", nor xenophobes hate the existence of aliens. I have a fear of heights but I don't hate them.
The American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition ("DSM-IV") includes in its description of a phobia an "intense anxiety" which follows exposure to the "object of the phobia, either in real life or via imagination or video..." For xenophobia there...See more
I'm still having trouble with reconciling the "intense anxiety" part with the "directed against" part. The I'm debilitatingly uncomfortable part with getting others to go along with violent reactions.
Vegetarian Vacations
Congratulations to Martha Manning for her cheesy winning post, "Edamiami". Well done!
Hilary tied with "Avocabo San Lucas" Losing on ties is just the pits, isn't it?
Holly put me in the mood for pie with "Rhubarbados", maybe my favorite post of the day.
Jack's "Tofuji" was right up there for me too, but nothing puts me in...See more
Not only is coming in second with the same winning score the pits, but my own mother is the one with her late vote that put Martha over. You are so in the doghouse Marillyn! Oh, BTW, congrats on a great post Martha and thanks for the mention Chris :)!
Rhubarbados was my favorite post of the day too, thank you! I didn't know I was in the running for 1st, I'm not playing today...snap!
This was a superb prompt, Chris! Lots of great entries!
Utensils for Undertakers
Hooray for me! "Corpsescrew" took the win yesterday. Let's all hope that utensil is never invented.
Patricia's "Coffin Grinder" tied for first, but since I was lazy and posted later I got credited with the win.
Lots of other great ones yesterday!
Some of my faves:
Jack's "Spooneral Parlor"
Jim Bell's "Plotted spoon"

Would it be more disturbing that 3 states didn't outlaw that, or that 47 states had to?
Congrats, Chris - loved your post! How can I sign up for Portlandia?
Really great hybrids today folks!
Television for Teachers
Patricia had us all tuned in to "Magnum, P.E." Congrats on the win!
Lyn wasn't too far behind with "Homeroom Improvement"
Donna had a few things to teach us with "Sex Ed and the City"
I don't know if I missed Karl's post yesterday or what, but I think "Flunk'd" is great.
Michael's "Joanie Loves Chalkie" was pretty funny too.
Ashton Kutcher's MTV show "Punk'd" plus flunk = Flunk'd! Marvelous!
Thanks, Donna.
If I'd have ever heard of the former, I'd have understood. I agree, then; it's great.
Songs for Sherpas
I was worried it might be difficult to sing to a Sherpa, but you guys were awesome.
Donna came out on top with the important life lesson, "Nepal You Need is Love"
H3G was on the other side of the mountain screaming "We Are Never Everest Getting Back Together "
Congrats to both!
I loved Holly's "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yeti"

I'll fill in for Chris today on the recap.
Restaurants and Rodeos
It took less than 8 seconds into June for David Diefendorf to start pummeling us all with a rodeo post with "Taco Bull."
Angel tied but had the earlier post with "Red Lobsteer" proving both our leaders today were dealing with some bullsh*t.
Ski posted a great one with "Cracker...See more
This week is going to be busier than usual for me. So unfortunately I won't be playing or giving my hybrid recaps, but I'm sure I'll still pop in to vote. Good luck everyone!
Pharmaceuticals for Politicians
The votes are in, and Marillyn Hersh-Greenberg's candidate, "Percodan Quayle" was elected top potatoe! Congrats!
Dave Brown and his running mate, "Ronald Rogaine" were right up there too, but lost by just a hair (actually a tie)
Patricia Richards made me chuckle with "Ruffie Giuliani"
Ronan was pretty clever with...See more

Hi Chris - glad I could make you laugh! Have a good weekend.
OUM Occupations
Congratulations to Dina Rosenberg Deuidicibus for her winning hybrid post yesterday, "Angela Sloan Officer" Great hybrid!
Jerry Scher proved he was the real dill, and he tied for first with "Donna Gurkin pickle packer"
I enjoy OUM hybrids, and this one didn't fail to disappoint for me.
My favorite of the day had to have been Conor's...See more
Yeah, second place is the new first place when Diefendorf is in the game. Hence why I don't care if my hybrid is good, it just has to be at least least as good as Machado's.
yes. Good to have a healthy attitude.
I love laughing on Fridays. Thanks Chris!
I'll have to check those out. Thanks, Donna
Ski, check out the poop poems too!
Donna, that just sounds smelly to me, but I'll do it.
Mysteries of Mexico
Either this was a really tough hybrid, or voting was just way down on Friday.
In any case, congratulations to Karl Hester for his winning post, "Tequila mockingbird"
John Clark and Angel Hope Eddlemon also tied for first, but there can be only uno!
I really liked Jim Wood's "The Big Siesta" as well as Jill Maguire's "Who's...See more

"Who's Eating Gilbert's Guacamole. " lmao!
Tomorrows Hybrid topic.......Ha!
Nursery Rhymes for the Navy
It was all hands on deck for hybrids yesterday. It was good to see more posts and votes than we had on Monday.
David Diefendorf blew us out of the water with "Rub-a-dub-dub, three men in a sub"
Brian Popp stayed afloat in second place with "Little Bouy Blue"
A few others I personally enjoyed:
Elizabeth Afshar's "Wee...See more
Tequila Mockingbird is a brilliant hybrid in some space, however, I don't get how this is a mystery? Can someone explain? In fact, I'm not sure how half the posts yesterday were mysteries.
The topic and starter left lots of room for interpretation. I thought it was Mystery books titles + anything remotely Mexican and/or Spanish.
'Get Smart' had an episode called 'Tequila Mockingbird' which was a spin on "The Maltese Falcon' which was a mystery. (No, I don't think that is what they were doing. I just wanted to talk about 'Get Smart')
I didn't play, but I'm sure my post is still available: The Case of the Giant Rat of...See more

Lyrics for the Laundry
I'm out of town and haven't had time to congratulate Jerry Scher for Friday's winning hybrid post, "And now the end is near and so I face the final cycle"
I'd love to send out a few more shout outs but I'm at the airport and it's been a long day. Happy Memorial Day everyone!
Dead Posts: Lyrics for the Laundry ...
Great Topic! Lots of great posts. I actually misread it as Song Titles for the Laundry, but since most songs include the title somewhere in the lyrics, my ideas still worked.
"Tide is on my side" did well. Here are the others I came up with
I’m crazy for washin’, crazy for dryin’, and crazy for doin’ your load
I fought the lawndry and the lawndry won.
Killers and Keggers
David Diefendorf shot to the top yesterday with his killer post, "Son of Sam Adams".
Elizabeth Afshar wasn't too bloody far behind with "Guinness Khan"
I thought yesterday was a pretty good day for hybrids.
Amy Austin's "David Berkoschlitz" was probably my personal favorite. So good!
I also got a kick out of Adam Clayman's "Leopold...See more
Elizabeth Afshar should really toot her own horn for coming up with yesterday's winning hybrid, "John Coltraining". Very nice!
Patricia Richards played second chair with "Miles Davis Cup"
Unfortunately I didn't see Donna's post, "Al Jarreauing machine", but I think it's hilarious. Sorry I missed it, Donna!
Another nice one from yesterday, in my opinion,...See more
Thanks for the kind words...Our internet up north here has been down for the last 2 days, so I just saw this! Thanks for taking the time to do the game and single people out (like me) Have a great Memorial Weekend.
Thanks, Chris!
Congrats to Dave Brown! His post, "Basshopper" sprung to victory yesterday.
David Diefendorf was creeping and crawling close behind with his great post, "Antchovy"
A couple others I really liked from yesterday:
Holly Ziegler's "Halibutterfly"
Jeremy Hall's "Mosqueelto" (although apparently I was the only one. D'oh!)
Thank you Chris. You were indeed the only one who enjoyed my entry. But I will get the last laugh, because "Mosqueelto" gives me an idea for a really bad movie for the SyFi channel. Half eel, half mosquito, all terrifying!
brilliant
I can't wait to see it. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, or on land. Mosqueelto.
23 votes and several hours ago, Ski brought forth a big win with "Abrahamster Lincoln". My top hat is off to you.
Dave Brown and "Rabbit E. Lee" led the rebellion, but history repeated itself here on the OUM battlefield.
I loved yesterday's posts, there were so many good ones out there, even if the herbivore/omnivore lines were a little blurred. ...See more
When I was in high school we had a Japanese foreign exchange student who wore a t-shirt with a Confederate flag that said "The South will rise again" I don't think he really knew what the shirt was all about.
One of my favorite things, foreigners in t-shirts they don't understand. My favorite was in Cambodia where I saw a local wearing a shirt "Smork em til the Wheis fall off." Now, my English is what you might call fluent and I didn't get it until a friend told me it should have read smoke them til the wheels fall off.
I dropped two, got two back but stalled. I think this is better than 2. Late voters? Are you there?
Oh, Lynn! Smart girl goes on vacation before the holiday traffic. How was it?
Ski, I called it "vacation". It was a few days in CA where I was finalizing things (buying things) for my move in six weeks. And silly me, I never once checked into my work email. I'm paying for it now.
Dead Posts Society - Historical Herbivores
I had a bunch and went with Benito Mooselini. Here are the others:
Johann Sebastian Baaaach
Teddy Bear Roosevelt
Friday's hybrid was a tough one, and I don't think there was as much voting going on as usual in any of the games.
Congrats to Elizabeth Afshar! She dug deep and came up with "Fools Marigold".
Marillyn Hersh-Greenberg's post, "Flower Bedrock" took the silver medal. Nice post!

Yesterday was another one of those days where I liked so many of the hybrid posts. I'm a bit of a crazy cat guy though, so it's not that surprising.
Holly Ziegler smoked the rest of us with her "Sausage Lynx". Well done!
Brian Popp was actually a close second with his great post, "Shish kabobcat"
And of course how could I not mention Angel's "Mew...See more
I don't know about you guys, but I had a hard time coming up with a hybrid today. Who's hosting this game anyway?
There were so many good hybrid posts yesterday it would take too long to list all the ones I really liked. You guys were on a roll, but none more so than David Roll who won with his awesome post, "Budapessimistic".
David Diefendorf proved it's lonely at the top with his second place post, "Barcelonely".
Hmm, in fact I just noticed that the top 11...See more
Maybe it's the cat lover in me, but I'm loving all the Hybrid posts today!
